Height: 10’4
Weight: 820 pounds
From the planet: TRAPPIST-1e
CONTAINMENT PROTOCOLS
CRM-9912 is to be housed in a reinforced concrete + layered steel lining, minimum 1.2 m wall thickness, internal footprint 14 m x 14 m, ceiling height 6 m. The interior will consist of smooth, rounded surfaces (no edges/handholds). The floor is sealed and slightly sloped toward a central drain for rapid decontamination. For the acoustics, the walls and ceiling are lined with anechoic baffles behind armored grating to disrupt echolocation returns. Secondary white-noise emitters remain on at low power to “fog” auditory mapping. Additionally, the lights are dim, diffuse overhead panels (no strobing). Emergency lights are steady-red only.
Security-wise, there will be an outer airlock corridor → inner pressure door. Only one door may open at a time. The personnel will not communicate verbally within 30 m of the chamber. All staff use silent hand signals and text-based comms. The required staffing is a 4-person team for any access event, with one designated Sound Control Officer monitoring decibel levels. Furthermore, there will be 24/7 continuous monitoring via thermal + lidar (audio sensors are restricted to prevent feedback cues). Cameras are mounted behind recessed armored ports.
Because the entity relies on enhanced hearing/echolocation and has extreme strength, it is contained in an isolated, sound-managed, smooth-surface chamber that minimizes navigational “returns,” prevents climbing leverage, and limits human-generated audio cues that could guide hunting behavior.
DESCRIPTION
Covered entirely from head to toe in small spikes that resemble hair. It has a human-like body but four arms and two legs. Although his vision is severely diminished, he has significantly enhanced hearing, akin to a bat’s echolocation abilities. It has a normal body type, not too muscular or skinny, but it does have a superhuman amount of strength.
Additional information:
A creature that resembles a hominid but is nothing of the sort. This bioengineered being is a result of too many experiments gone wrong with no oversight and a mad scientist at the helm of the project. When ████ first discovered him in the forest, they had believed it was already dead, due to the burn marks it had experienced in the crash. An alien spaceship was not too far off from the border of ████, but the local officials had to be kept quiet for containment reasons. When the scientists brought him into their facility, they noticed that during the ride, his wounds had seemingly disappeared, with his skin and hair fully regenerating. In fact, it had almost seemed to the scientists that his skin looked even spikier, even more dangerous. Additionally, it's important to note that the creature had been exposed to our atmosphere and oxygen; it had grown as well, almost 3x its small size, on the trip to the underground lab. It started off as a small 4’6 creature, but grew to be around 6’1 in only a year's time
Addendum [901-01]: Behavioral Phenotypes
Source: Field Observation Log (████)
Dr. ████ and a team of 6 Cerium operators made contact with the entity on the border of ████. It had crash-landed on Earth and had destroyed a multitude of trees and bushes and had put a hole in a mountainside in its path. When ████ first discovered him in the forest, the team had believed it was already dead, due to the burn marks and damage it had experienced in the crash. An alien spaceship was also spotted and destroyed near the border of ______. The local officials had to be kept quiet for containment and bureaucratic reasons. When the scientists had brought it into our facility, they had noticed that on the ride there, his wounds had seemingly disappeared, with his skin and hair fully regenerated itself. In fact, it had almost seemed to the scientist that its skin looked even spikier, even more dangerous. Additionally, it's important to note that the creature had been exposed to our atmosphere and oxygen; it had also grown, almost 3x its original size, during the trip to the underground lab. After observing it for a complete year, the scientist made a note that it had as a small 4’6 creature but grew to around 6’1 in just a year.
Location: Containment Site: The entity is to be housed at Site-12, Sublevel 4, in a purpose-built anechoic containment bay (sound-dampened) isolated from main corridors.
Incident 871 “Failure to Contain (O-AA1)"
Location: Site-12, ████
Summary: During a scheduled maintenance window, staff deviated from silent-access rules (audible speech/footfalls in the acoustic boundary) while the cell’s sound-masking remained underpowered. Quill-Echo exploited the door seam, failed the inner door at the hinge line, and exited Cell 4A into the airlock corridor. The entity then moved through Corridor Gate 4C into Service Hall 4S, attempting to reach the vertical service shaft toward higher levels.
Escalation Event: At 0233 hours, the entity reached the Service Shaft approach and began climbing. Contact with exposed conduit and railing created sharp, consistent echoes that improved its navigation. Simultaneously, panicked radio/verbal callouts from retreating personnel raised the noise floor, causing the entity to “lock” onto moving groups and accelerate toward the densest sound source. Escalation declared (O-AA1.2): Sublevel ████ was treated as an active hunt zone; all personnel were ordered to freeze, go silent, and shelter, while automated systems took over.
Containment by Project Cerium initiated Lockdown-12B, ramped full-spectrum white noise to maximum, deployed overhead netting, and used a remote hydraulic cradle + compression harness to immobilize the entity. The Alpha was re-secured in Cell 4A by 0302 hours.
Casualties: Quill-Echo killed 20 Cerium Operators and a 6-person Cerium science team (26 total) during the initial breach and pursuit/retreat sequence in echo-friendly corridors.
